Car Accidents and Related Deaths Increase During Holiday Season in Pennsylvania

Last year, Pennsylvania car accident lawyer Jeffrey Penneys says, the Pennsylvania State Police reported over 1,000 car crashes, with 17 fatalities, and 348 personal injuries during the Thanksgiving holiday period from Wednesday to Sunday. 79 of the auto crashes were alcohol-related.

There were also 41 DUI arrests, 783 citations for speeding, 7 child seat citations, 113 seat belt citations, and 670 other traffic related citations. The results indicate a significant increase in fatalities from last year to this year. Last year only 3 people were killed in car accidents versus 17 killed this year and there was a 14% increase in personal injuries.

These car accident statistics are upsetting. What is even more upsetting is that many of the automobile drivers responsible for these car accidents are uninsured or underinsured.

This is exactly why it is so important to purchase the right types of car insurance coverage in Pennsylvania, especially for Philadelphia car accidents, where there are more uninsured motorists than any other city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The right types of coverage you need in order to fully protect yourself include Full Tort auto insurance and UM/UIM auto coverage (uninsured/underinsured). Without these types of automobile coverages, you are leaving youself at great financial risk of when involved in a car crash.
